MKFL Services

MKFL provides legal assistance and consultation on international family law matters. It works alongside local family lawyers to provide the guidance needed for a comprehensive legal strategy when the case touches upon more than one country. MKFL’s services include:

  • Written Reports on international family law matters, including jurisdiction, U.S. family law for foreign proceedings, and child abduction issues
  • Court Testimony on international family law matters, including jurisdiction, U.S. family law for foreign proceedings, and child abduction issues
  • Consulting for family lawyers and their clients on international family law cases to provide comprehensive case strategy and support
  • Secure apostilles or authentications of foreign public documents for use in family law litigation
  • Create and execute a comprehensive plan to seek evidence in a foreign jurisdiction for use in family law litigation
  • Facilitate service of process on a litigant in a foreign jurisdiction, including navigating the Hague Service Convention for family law litigation
  • Mediate complex multi-jurisdictional cases, including Hague Child Abduction Convention cases
  • Serve as a neutral collaborative law expert on international family law matters, including a child’s international travel
  • Serve as a neutral arbitrator for The International Family Law Arbitration Scheme
  • Serve as a court-appointed attorney for a minor child in litigation, including in family court and in Hague Child Abduction Convention litigation (in jurisdictions where the attorney is admitted)
  • Research and drafting of agreements, proposed orders, and pleadings, case strategy, and preparation of witnesses for trial
  • Research and drafting for international family law appeals, mooting of arguing attorneys for oral argument
